What is the Healthcare Resurgence Grant?

WORKFORCE plus has been awarded a grant by Workforce Florida Inc. to assist the following target groups: Jobseekers, Current College Students, Current Healthcare Workers, Healthcare Providers & Employers. Funding for the Healthcare Resurgence grant is provided through the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act signed by President Obama in February 2009. The Act has a number of strategic elements that are designed to help stimulate the economy and create or sustain jobs.

Did you Know?

Many of the occupations projected to grow the fastest in the economy are concentrated in the healthcare industry. Nationally wage and salary employment in the health care industry is projected to increase 27% through 2014, compared to 14% of all industries combined. There is currently and will be in the future a shortage of healthcare professionals, so the career opportunities are extensive.

Who is Eligible?

Healthcare Worker & Jobseekers and College Students – To be eligible to participate, you must meet income eligibility requirements and criteria set as a requirement of the grant. Employers – Utilize grant funds to encourage employee participation in Continuing Education Units (CEU) or training in OSHA, HIPPA, IV Therapy and CAN.

If you meet one of the above criteria, we encourage you to contact your local WORKFORCE plus office and apply today at (866) WFP-JOB1. Just say HEALTHCARE!

Tallahassee is a Great Place to Live and Work

Tallahassee is a city of rolling hills and canopy roads. It is home to Florida's capital, Florida State University and Florida A&M University, thus attracting educated professionals and cultural amenities not often found in a town of this size. Tallahassee citizens enjoy serene, temperate weather year-round and have award-winning recreation centers, parks and museums. From new downtown living to established midtown neighborhoods to fresh-air suburbs there's a place for everyone. The healthcare community in Tallahassee benefits from unusual geographic proximity within the major providers, including the two main hospitals, nationally recognized HMO, and various small to mid-sized specialty practices. Also within this 'medical corridor' exists a secure medical area network that connects the facilities with high bandwidth infrastructure for electronic file transfers over a compliant secure network. This and other related projects have positioned Tallahassee to be a leader in the development of electronic personal health records in the 21st century environment, and at the leading edge of a high quality healthcare delivery system.
